Slava Grigoryan at Aichi Expo 2005

Slava Grigoryan, one of Australia's leading young guitarist soloists will be playing at Aichi Expo on 5th and 6th September.
Born in 1976 in Kazakhstan and immigrating with his family to Australia in 1981, having won a major prize at the Tokyo International Classical Guitar Competition, Slava was signed by Sony Music Entertainment Australia under the Sony Classical Label in 1995 and has since released four solo albums.
He has performed at many national and international Festivals throughout the UK and Germany, California, Beirut, New Zealand as well as Brisbane, Darwin, Sydney and the Queensland Biennial of Music.
He has appeared with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, The City of London Festival, the Australian String Quartet, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia, Israel Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Radio Orchestra, the Klagenfurt Symphony Orchestra in Austria, the Halle Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, the Sydney, Tasmanian, Melbourne and West Australian Symphony orchestras and Saffire, the Australian Guitar Quartet.
In 1998 Slava was named Young Australian of the Year for the Arts as part of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Arts Festival.
He has toured with the Australian pianist Simon Tedeschi, played duets with his brother Leonard Grigoryan, national tours with his brother Leonard and with Saffire, extensive appearances for Musica Viva and performances in Japan with baritone José Carbó Slava also collaborated with many colleagues in Slava and Friends for Carnivale in Sydney.
Recently Slava Grigoryan was appointed Artist in Residence at the Victorian College of the Arts, and received the "Mo Award" for Instrumentalist of the Year.
His classical albums include 'Sonatas and Fantasies' (ARIA awards 2002 best classical album), 'Play' (with Leonard Grigoryan) and 'Saffire' (The Australian Guitar Quartet - ARIA awards 2003 best classical album), and 'Brazil' (with flautist Jane Rutter, No. 1 on the ARIA classical charts).
