Australian Jazz Wave 2010

2 September 2010 - 6 September 2010

Musicians representing Australia’s contemporary jazz scene are coming to “Tokyo Jazz 2010”, the biggest Jazz Festival in Japan, this year again .  There will be two live stages, featuring "Mike Nock Trio" and The Mike Nock "Tokyo" BigSmallBand that includes Matthew Ottignon (saxophone & flute), Phil Slater (trumpet), Eijiro Nakagawa (trombone) and Ken Ohta (saxophone) on Thursday 2nd and Saturday 4th September.  30 pairs of tickets (60 tickets) will be available for the special live TOKYO JAZZ PREMIERE CLUB "Australian Jazz Wave 2010" on 2 September (details below).   After performing at the Tokyo Jazz 2010, Mike Nock Trio will also play at the Shinjuku Pit Inn on Monday 6th September.   Come and enjoy smooth late-summer tones of Australian jazz!

Mike Nock Trio

From 1961 to 1985 Mike Nock lived in the U.S., recording and touring with many of the world’s top jazz artists. Nock first came to wide international attention through his group The Fourth Way in the late 1960s. Since his return to Australia, Nock has made enormous contributions in fostering the next generation of musicians at the University of Sydney Conservatorium and is increasingly recognized as a creative force in contemporary music through his many innovative projects, compositions and recordings. Mike Nock won the Australian Jazz Awards’ Graeme Bell Hall of Fame Award in 2009. Mike Nock’s current trio has been together for several years and features the outstanding talents of bassist Ben Waples and drummer James Waples.
