Jason Roberts Solo Exhibition: Gondwana Show

13 October 2005 - 26 October 2005

About 20 of Australian wildlife paintings in water colour by Tasmanian born Jason Roberts will be exhibited in Tokyo for the first time from 13 - 26 October, 2005.

Jason Roberts, born in 1969 in Tasmania is one of the most promising young wildlife artists to emerge in recent years. His photo-realist work depicts the flora and fauna of Tasmania in incredible detail, evoking the art of American contemporary realist painter Andrew Wyeth. The paintings suggest an epic contrast between the unique animals and plants of present Tasmania with the geological and civilisational movements on the Australian continent, once part of Gondwana, the super continent which combined the Americas, Africa, Australia, Antarctica and the Indian sub-continent.
