Craig Walsh at Yokohama Triennale 2005

The Yokohama International Triennale of Contemporary Art will be hosting Australia's most popular young artist, Craig Walsh from 28 September to 18 December 2005.
The new projection/sculptural installations of Craig Walsh entitled Cross Reference manipulate scale and architectural function via projected images to transform the everyday into extraordinary events for the audience to interpret.
Craig Walsh, born in 1966 and based in Brisbane, is a site-specific installation artist who engages with the site and its audience through spatial and physical distortions incorporating projection, sculpture and photography. Craig has adapted his work to theatre, architecture, public works and gallery exhibitions, and explored alternative contexts exhibiting throughout Asia on international residencies, in Australia and in Havana, Cuba. His work is displayed at many festivals including Livid, Woodford, Womad, Splendor in The grass, the Sydney and Brisbane Festivals, Tollwood festival (Germany) and The QLD Biennial Festival of Music. He has curated, managed and participated in a range of temporal public art projects, most recently a major projection work for The Arts House at The Old Parliament House in Singapore.
Prizes include Contested space in The Anne Landa Awards at The Art Gallery of NSW, Cross-Reference in The Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art & The National Sculpture prize at the National Gallery of Australia , Humanature in The Havana Biennale, Cuba and a commissioned video artwork as part of ARTV for ACMI &SBS television. He was a finalist in the 2004 Queensland design awards and received the Art and Architecture award in the 2003 Queensland Architecture awards. He is currently working on a range of permanent and temporal projects.
