Tasmanian Week in Tokyo

28 June 2005 - 6 July 2005

From Tuesday 28th June - Wednesday 6th July 2005, Tasmanian Week celebrating the island's wonders of nature, culture and cuisine will be held at the KKR Hotel in Takebashi, Tokyo. "Fuyo", the hotel's restaurant on the 12th floor with a splendid vista of the Imperial Palace has prepared a special Tasmanian menu and Cary Lewincamp, Tasmanian seven string guitarist, will play live at the restaurant on the 28th and 30th June, and 5th and 6th July.

On Wednesday 6th July 2005, Cary Lewincamp, the internationally renowned seven string guitarist from Tasmania will make his debut in Japan with a special mini-concert of a rich and colourful array of songs from the beautiful island state. Enjoy a summer evening of Tasmanian food and wine accompanied by Cary's heart-warming music, and see Masaaki Aihara's photographic exhibition, "Fascination of Tasmania", presented by Cary and Aihara in an after-show talk. A chance to win prizes for Tasmanian wine, resort accommodation and others will also entertain guests.

Cary Lewincamp and friends

Cary will be joined by fellow musicians Etsuko Sakai, Tomoe Koga and Rie Nakamura in a concert on the 2nd July, 2005. Etsuko Sakai is a koto player trained in the Ikuta School of Koto. Sakai has performed several times in the NHK program for Japanese traditional music, for the former British Prime Minister, Mrs Thatcher, and runs a school of Japanese music for children. Tomoe Koga performs at regular concerts, dinner shows and operas, runs a choir group "Ritawa Chorus" and teaches private piano and singing lessons. Rie Nakamura has performed many recitals in Tokyo, Kanagawa and Fukuoka.
