Welcome to the Australian Embassy's Australia-Japan New Media Gallery, a snapshot of contemporary Australian and Japanese new media arts, produced by Tokyo-based performance group cell / 66b.

With the aim of stimulating further possibilities for creative activity between Australia and Japan, the Australia-Japan New Media Gallery looks to nurture artists working with emerging technologies, create new communication experiences and connect people to new styles of content.

The Australia-Japan New Media Gallery presents the expressive potential of new media technologies online. Throughout these pages you will find Australian graphic design, web design, computer graphics, digital animation, performance art, interactive art, multimedia and interdisciplinary arts practices. New media technologies open up new avenues for artistic visions, providing for physical and conceptual experiences in both real and virtual environments.

We hope viewers will enjoy the Gallery as both an exhibition space and a community-style networking realm. In providing contacts and information on creative new media resources in Australia and Japan we hope to facilitate new exchange projects in the future.

The Australia-Japan New Media Gallery is presented by the Australian Embassy Tokyo, produced by Co:exist, and made possible by the generous support of the National Council for the Centenary of Federation in Australia.
